Leicester’s LOROS hospice charity were the recipients of the proceeds of the Bardi Wind Orchestra’s annual charity concert in association with Oadby & Wigston Lions Club at De Montfort Hall on Sunday.
One of the leading wind orchestras in the Midlands the BWO now draws its players from across the region. The concert was presented in conjunction with Oadby and Wigston Lions, and compered by well known local celebrity Martin Ballard.
The players, under the baton of conductor David Calow gave a sparkling performance of movie showstoppers including Star Wars, Superman, The Lord of the Rings and The Magnificent Seven. They were joined by singers Jenny Saunders and David Morris who sang Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Anthem from Chess and All I Ask of You from The Phantom of the Opera. David Calow remarked that this was ‘probably one of the very best of these concerts’.
