The Bardi Symphony Orchestra present ‘A Viennese Concert’ on Sunday February 17th 3.00pm
Brighten up a chilly midwinter afternoon with a musical trip to Old Vienna. Join the Bardi Symphony Orchestra for all the excitement and sparkle of this famous city portrayed in the music of eminent composers of the day, Schubert, the Strauss family and others.
In a concert of two halves which illustrates different facets of Viennese musical life in the 19th Century, the first half will feature a performance of Schubert’s much-loved ‘Unfinished’ Symphony No.8.
In the second half the Orchestra with their Music Director Claus Efland, who has a particular affinity with this music, move to the glittering occasions in society. There are waltzes, marches and polkas by the Strauss family and others some more familiar some less (and including one irresistible offering from Denmark!).
The concert would not be complete without ‘The Beautiful Blue Danube’ by Johann Strauss and rounds off with a rousing ‘Radetsky March’ by the same composer for the audience to warn their hands before setting off into the darkening February afternoon.
