Vienna is celebrated in style by the Bardi in music by Johann Strauss Father and Son, including the Radetsky March and The Blue Danube Waltz. Schubert’s 8th Symphony, his ‘Unfinished’ and the rousing Light Cavalry Overture are also in the programme.
Following the successful collaboration with the Bardi last season in Stravinsky’s ballet The Firebird, Dance Activate return in a Ballet Concert which includes the 2nd Act of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker.
Russian-born Pianist Katya Apekisheva makes a welcome return in a performance of Rachmaninov’s famous Paganini Variations while Sibelius’s popular Karelia Suite and Nielsen’s powerful 5th Symphony complete the Bardi’s final De Montfort Hall concert of the season.
The annual Bardi Young Musician concerts series goes from strength to strength. These concerts are intended to encourage emerging and talented young soloists by giving them a platform on which to perform with a full symphony orchestra.

The Bardi Symphony Orchestra are promising a spectacular finale to our Gigs in the Gardens summer series. The local musicians will be performing a raft of popular film and stage classics before a firework encore.
The Bardi’s new season opens with well-known music from two great Austrian composers. The Orchestra’s own wind soloists begin the concert with Mozart’s sublime Concertante for Winds and orchestra, with the towering “Romantic” fourth symphony by Bruckner as a contrast in the second half.

A “Voyage Through the Ages” concert showcasing the talents of LGS students both as concerto soloists and as guest members of the Bardi Symphony Orchestra.
To include: Beethoven Egmont overture, Glazunov Saxophone and Mendelssohn Violin concerto movements, Haydn Symphony No.101 2nd movement, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik and suites from Star Wars, Psycho and Wicked.
Popular concert hall favourites feature in the Bardi’s second concert of the season. The magical overture to Hansel and Gretel is followed by Tchaikovsky’s powerful Violin Concerto with rising star Natalia Lomeiko as the soloist. Dvorák’s seventh symphony, a work more in the style of Brahms but still featuring the composer’s Bohemian melodies, completes the concert.

Join the Bardi to learn about the instruments of the Symphony Orchestra, in a feast of popular classical and film music for all the family with Guest Conductor Richard Laing and Tuba soloist Stephen Calow.
The Bardi’s De Montfort Hall season finale sees three works showing different sides of one of England’s greatest composers, Sir Edward Elgar. The first half has the delightful String Serenade contrasting strongly with the passionate and powerful Cello Concerto. The mighty First Symphony brings the concert to a magnificent conclusion with one of Elgar’s most inspired themes.
