Charlie Chaplin in City Lights is a first for the Bardi!

The classic black and white Chaplin movie City Lights with the Bardi Symphony Orchestra playing the soundtrack live was very well received by a large and enthusiastic audience at De Montfort Hall. Conductor Claus Efland and the Bardi broke new ground by playing a film soundtrack to a live film screening for the first time. It was one of the latest highlights of the 30th Anniversary Season of the Orchestra.

The Bardi celebrated 30 years of magnificent music making with a stunning concert of classical favourites.

An enthusiastic audience joined the Bardi at De Montfort Hall for the 30th Anniversary Concert and celebrated 30 years of music making. The concert began with a stirring rendition of Wagner’s Prelude to Die Meistersinger and then the acclaimed pianist Nikolai Demidenko played Beethoven’s 4th Piano Concerto. The second half of the concert featured a stunning performance of Rachmaninov’s romantic 2nd Symphony.
