This is the Bardi's third concert at Leicester Grammar School as part of the Orchestra's unique association with the school. Head of Music David Whittle will be Guest Conductor in a performance of the Symphony in D minor by Cesar Franck and as a contrast, the suite from Bernstein's West Side Story. As in previous Bardi/LGS concerts, students from the school will be performing concerto movements and short solo pieces with the Orchestra.
The first De Montfort Hall concert of the new Bardi season "Life, Love and Nature" will see the welcome return of BBC Young Musician Finalist Isata Kanneh-Mason as our soloist to play Schumann's romantic Piano Concerto. Dvorák's Carnaval Overture will give a lively start the concert and the evocative Symphony No.5 by Vaughan Williams a contrast in the second half. Although completed in 1943 in the midst of the Second World War, much of the music of the symphony looks back to the composer's earlier style of the Tallis Fantasia.
The annual Christmas Festival Concert at Holy Trinity Church has become one of the hilights of the Bardi concert season. This year the concert will be again conducted by David Calow with seasonal readings by John Florance. Mozart's ever-popular Overture to The Magic Flute commences the proceedings and we turn to Beethoven's ground-breaking third symphony the "Eroica" for our finale.

The annual Family Gala Concert Concert at De Montfort Hall has become one of the highlights of the Bardi Wind concert season. Over the recent years the concert has raised thousands of pounds for local charities. This year the concert will be again conducted by Music Director David Calow with Compere Martin Ballard from BBC Radio Leicester and soloists Jenny Saunders and David Morris. The concert continues the association with Oadby & Wigston Lions Club and will supporting the East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre Children's Heart Hospital relocation.
